MHCB offers four levels of band music instruction and rehearsal:
Beginning Band offers first stepping stones for people new to an instrument or music. In this band, we have adults learning instruments for the first time, middle- and high-school students supplementing their school band experience, and folks learning a second instrument (or third or...). Members of the Beginning Band often also attend the Intermediate Band rehearsals.
Intermediate Band supports the next steps in learning an instrument or music. Members of this band include those who have advanced from the beginner level, people who are returning to music after a hiatus, and people preparing to advance to Jazz or Concert Bands.
Jazz Band marches to its own beat with jazz, swing, rock, and dance music! With performance opportunities around Denver, members of this band enjoy the variety of music, with an emphasis on style, dynamics, and more. We have adults of all ages in this group, as well as students supplementing their school band experience.
Concert Band members enjoy performance opportunities throughout the year with the Band’s variety of show tunes, marches, and classics. Like the Jazz Band, the Concert Band includes adults of all ages, as well as students. Folks coming up from Intermediate Band also often land in Concert Band, with special attention to helping new members make a successful and enjoyable transition.
